Jim Mayola

Jim Mayola Hello all, This will be my final day at the Community Media Center as the Coordinator of the History Project. I have accepted a position as office manager for the Office of Career Services at McDaniel College and will be helping to establish internships for students and to place graduating seniors in employment.

It has been a most exciting 10 months and I have loved every minute of this job. I have met some wonderful people and learned much about the history of Carroll County from those who have experienced it firsthand. While I was not able to make my personal goal of 500 interviews with the History Project, we have gotten to the respectable number of 466!

I will still be working with three classes of students at McDaniel College who are using oral history interviews as a portion of their class assignments. By the end of this semester (mid-May) we should have an additional 50+ video interviews to add to our collection. Additionally, I intend to continue to be a volunteer at the History Project whenever I have free time.

The addition of four local history museums to the CMC History Project web page has been a pleasant accomplishment. The Taneytown Museum, which will re-open next Spring, has just expressed an interest in also being a part of our history project collection.

Thanks to everyone for their help and support this past 10 months. You made my job a lot easier than it might otherwise have been. I feel certain that our paths will cross again in the future.

I wish you all well,
Jim Mayola
