What being a student athlete is all about

Hello, My name is Cooper Sheeler. I am a student athlete for Winters Mill and an intern here at the Community Media Center. I have always been interested in football. Most of you remember your first time getting in the game, or your first win. Maybe your first tackle or first touchdown. When you get into high school sports you will understand how much more competitive football is.

week 3 against Century Knights

When becoming an athlete the key to being successful is to have a competitive advantage against your opponent, like being stronger, faster, smarter. Training everyday to reach these goals of being better can be draining to those who work hard.

A key component in trying to be better in a sport is to be smarter. As someone who was not the biggest or the strongest at my position on the offensive line, My go-to was to out smart the man across from me.

What helped me the most on the offensive line was to always be the first to make contact off the ball.

My last game against Forest Park

To become smarter on the field, you have to be smart off the field. Maintaining good grades and hard work are what being a student athlete is all about.

Whether it is your first year playing or your a seasoned veteran, you need to be a smart player to have that competitive advantage on your opponents.
